our code of conduct
All Young People and Adults in Scouting make a promise when invested to keep the Scout Law.
The Scout Law
A Scout is to be trusted.
A Scout is loyal.
A Scout is friendly and considerate.
A Scout belongs to the worldwide family of Scouts.
A Scout has courage in all difficulties.
A Scout makes good use of time and is careful of possessions and property.
A Scout has self-respect and respect for others.
This ties closely with our Code of Conduct, which was written by members of our Scout Troops.
Our Code of Conduct
Treat others with respect.
Be kind to everyone.
Report your concerns to a Leader, always. The quicker you tell us, the better we can deal with it.
No Cheating – Play fairly and include everyone.
Give your best effort in all you do, always give new things a try.
Attend all meetings and events where possible:
-
Arrive on time for each meeting
-
Arrive in the correct uniform or clothing for the meeting /activity.
-
Please bring with you any requested forms/kit.
Keep your language clean and considerate.
Be aware of how your actions, physical and verbal, may be interpreted by others.
Keep your Promise, follow the Scout Law.
Parents/carers, we ask that you support your Young Person/People to follow our code of conduct by keeping up to date with communications, encouraging them to try new activities and ensuring they bring the correct kit, uniform and paperwork to evenings. Our Leader team will always respond to emails ASAP, but they are volunteers so if you have an urgent query the best option is to speak to us at section evenings.
Mobile Phones and Scouting
Unless requested as part of an activity, it is preferred that Young People of Scout age or younger do not bring mobile phones to any evenings. If a mobile must be brought to an evening, there is a phone storage rack available so that it is not carried or used during the evening. Young People are responsible for their own phones if they choose to bring them.
Explorers/Young Leaders may bring phones, however the use of these during Scouting Activities is entirely at the discretion of the Leadership Team. Young Leaders should not use their phones, except to assist in running activities, whilst around Young People from other sections.
Any member of Scouting with a mobile phone at an event must use it appropriately.
